Beatdom is a literary journal dedicated to the Beat Generation. We publish an annual print edition and have done so since 2007. We also put out several books each year. You can see our back catalogue here.
In 2024, we started this Substack as a means of replacing our old mailing list. However, after realising the potential for Substack as a platform for long-form writing, we began to rely upon it more than our old website (www.beatdom.com). We feel it offers a better reading experience for a number of reasons.
Currently, we use Substack for general updates (such as information about new publications) and also for long, investigative essays about Beat history. You can see examples of our work on our Archive page.
These essays are all completely free to read; however, we have enabled a paid tier for those who wish to support Beatdom. Some of these essays require many months of research and involve the use of paid archive access.
